Signed first edition of The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit by Sloan Wilson. The book was the basis for the 1956 movie of the same name directed by Nunnally Johnson and starring Gregory Peck, Jennifer Jones and Frederic March. The title became a common phrase in America. A best seller in the 1950s, the novel addresses the problem of finding purpose in a hectic business world. The Dust Jacket has the original price ($3.50) intact on front flap, chips to heel of spine, top of rear panel, and a small chip to top of front panel, with mild sunning to spine and front fold. The Binding is red quarter cloth to gray boards, with gilt title, etc., to spine, blindstamped image of the man in the gray flannel suit to the front board, all corners square and sharp, and a small wrinkle to the top-edge of the front board.
